AG300-001 Single Economy Air Gap with Brass Decorative Cap
❤ COST-EFFECTIVENESS: The AG300-001 is priced competitively without compromising the quality of its performance. It is constructed using durable plastic built to withstand the demands of everyday use.
❤ FLOW RATE: The AG300-001’s maximum flow rate is 7.5 gallons per minute (GPM). The maximum flow rate through this air gap is the highest flow rate above which the air gap will overflow. The air gap is dry on the outside at the maximum flow rate.
❤ INLET PORTS: The AG300-001 accepts a standard 5/8-inch inside diameter hose from a dishwasher. The hose from the dishwasher slides onto the bottom port and is secured using stainless worm clamps (not included). Ensure there are no kinks in the hose and that water passes freely.
❤ OUTLET PORTS: The drainage side of the air gap connects to a 7/8-inch inside diameter hose, which routes discharge water to the side drain connection on the garbage disposal or drain line adapter. This hose is available from Home Depot (search for “PVC Disposal Discharge Hose”). When installing this hose, make sure that there is no sagging or loops. Any sagging will create standing water and restrict the air gap’s proper draining. Secure both ends of the hose with a 1-inch stainless steel worm clamp.
❤ THREADED BODY: The AG300-001 has a body with a thread that enables air gap mounting through a standard countertop. Countertop thickness can be up to 1-1/2 inches, and it does not require any special modification to accommodate this air gap.
❤ MOUNTING NUT: The AG300-001 has a durable mounting nut that will not strip or become loose. The multi-threaded nut can be tightened without the worry of damaging threads. This configuration provides a simple and reliable installation that prevents leaks and assures trouble-free operation after installing the air gap.
❤ DECORATIVE CAP: The AG300-001 features a stylish brass decorative cap that adds elegance to its design. This cap’s sleek finish enhances the kitchen aesthetic while ensuring reliable performance.
A dishwasher air gap is critical to maintaining a safe water supply. It prevents contaminants in the sink from flowing into the dishwasher and is required by code in most states.
A common misconception is that a “high loop” (routing a drain line above a sink’s flood level, for instance) and a wye connection will provide the same level of protection as an air gap; this is not true because the continuous connection between dishwasher and drain line still will allow back-flow through siphoning.
The AG300-001 is a single dishwasher air gap constructed using durable plastic, ensuring resilience to everyday wear and tear while maintaining an affordable price point. Its competitive pricing remains unmatched without compromising on performance quality.
